For Immediate Release College Pointe Apartments Owners Endow Scholarship At USC Upstate
“USC Upstate is fortunate to have a very positive partnership with College Pointe Apartments,” said Dr. John Stockwell, chancellor of USC Upstate. “This facility is adjacent to our campus and has served well in meeting our student housing demand since it opened in fall 2005. When Steve and Joe first began building the apartments, they approached the University about establishing a scholarship and they have remained true to their word.” The scholarship will be granted to an incoming or returning academically eligible student who is a resident in good standing at College Pointe Apartments. The scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of financial need with preference given to those students demonstrating academic merit. "Once our student communities are built and stabilized we like to create an endowment as a way of saying thanks to the local university,” said Stephen F. Kenney, owner of The Kenney Companies. “USC Upstate has been an excellent partner for us throughout the development process. In particular Ron Dalton, director of housing and residential life at USC Upstate, has a working relationship with our staff, both in Spartanburg and our corporate office in Raleigh, NC, that is the best we have anywhere. We hope to be part of the USC Upstate success for a long time."

Spartanburg, S.C. – Stephen F. Kenney and Joseph E. Bostic, owners of College Pointe Apartments in Spartanburg, recently endowed a $20,000 scholarship to the University of South Carolina Upstate. The College Pointe Endowed Scholarship Fund will provide an annual $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student who resides at College Pointe.
